Four Family Messes, One Stain Solver, and a Dad on Cleanup Duty

Family Stain Removal: Shoes, Carpet, Shirts, and Grout

Some days, family life feels like one long series of requests to fix something. Someone has dirty shoes, dinner has landed on the carpet, and dessert has left its mark on a shirt.

Will R. and his family turned that familiar feeling into a light-hearted Stain Solver video, complete with dramatic reactions, a little family comedy, and a dad working his way through the cleanup list.

Their video tackles four household cleaning challenges: dirty sneakers, spaghetti on the carpet, shower tile and grout, and an ice-cream-stained shirt.

The message behind the fun? Before you decide something is ruined, give cleaning it a chance.

Watch Will and his family put Stain Solver to work.

Will R. and his family tackle dirty sneakers, carpet stains, shower grout, and a stained shirt with Stain Solver.

A quick note before following along: Will’s video is a playful family testimonial, not a complete cleaning tutorial. For your own cleanup projects, follow the recommended methods and detailed guides below, particularly the mixing, waiting, and rinsing instructions.

Dirty Sneakers Don’t Have to Mean New Sneakers

The first request involves a pair of high-top sneakers that could use some attention. Will gets to work, and the video gives us a close look at the difference around the shoes’ white rubber edges.

It is an easy situation to recognize. Your child still loves the shoes, they still fit, and replacing them was not exactly on this week’s shopping list.

For your own shoes: Check the manufacturer’s care instructions, and test an inconspicuous area first. Shoes can combine fabrics, adhesives, dyes, and decorative finishes, so do not assume every pair can be soaked. On suitable water-washable areas, allow the dissolved cleaning solution time to work before using a soft brush as needed. Finish by rinsing thoroughly and drying as the manufacturer recommends. Spaghetti Belongs on a Plate, but Family Life Has Other Plans

Next comes the carpet.

A spaghetti mishap is the kind of moment that can make a parent stop mid-sentence and stare at the floor. Will’s family gives that moment a comic delivery before he tackles the cleanup.

The important takeaway for your home is that carpet cleaning should not become a contest to see how hard you can scrub.

For your own carpet: Give the properly mixed solution 30–60 minutes of contact time, keeping the treated fibers wet without flooding the backing or padding. Blot with a clean cloth rather than aggressively scrubbing. Then rinse with small, controlled amounts of clean water, blot again, and let the carpet dry completely. The rinse is part of the job, even when the stain already looks better. Repeat as necessary.

The Shower Joins the Cleanup List

Apparently, the shoes and carpet were not enough to keep Dad busy.

The video’s next stop is the shower, where Will addresses the buildup around the soap holder and nearby tile and grout. It's a reminder that the household cleaning list doesn't end when the laundry is finished.

For your own tile and grout: Let the solution work before reaching for the brush. Our grout-cleaning guide recommends 30–45 minutes of wet contact time, with more time when needed, followed by brushing and a thorough rinse with clean water. Reapply a little solution if the area begins drying during treatment.

Ice Cream Shouldn’t Get the Last Word on a Favorite Shirt

The final request arrives with a spoon and plenty of evidence that dessert was enjoyed.

Will treats the shirt, puts it through the wash, and holds it up afterward to show the result. It is a fitting finish to a video about giving the family’s things another chance.

For your own washable shirt: Do not treat the video’s quick spray-and-wash sequence as the entire recommended process. For a suitable garment, follow our soaking method: fully dissolve the powder, use a fabric-safe solution temperature, submerge the shirt, and check after approximately 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly, launder according to the care label, and inspect before using the dryer. Repeat treatment when necessary.

Measure Carefully, and Give the Cleaner Time to Work

Will brings the personality. At home, bring a measuring scoop and a little patience.

Our current standard mixing guidance is four regular scoops of Stain Solver per gallon of hot water, or one regular scoop per quart. The regular scoop is the one supplied with the 2 lb and 9 lb containers. The 45 lb container includes a larger scoop, so those scoop counts are not interchangeable.

See our scoop sizes and measuring guidance:

Before cleaning, check the item’s care instructions and test a hidden area. Stain Solver is not appropriate for every material; do not use it on wool, silk, or aluminum.

Keep the Family Fun, and Give Your Things Another Chance

What makes Will’s video enjoyable is not a perfectly staged cleaning routine. It's the family bringing a sense of humor to the kinds of messes that interrupt an ordinary day.

And that is the point.

A cleaning win can mean a favorite shirt going back into the drawer, shoes staying in rotation, or one less item on the replacement list.

You can't prevent every spill. You can give your things a chance before giving up on them.
